About the role

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented Health & Safety Officer to join the team and be responsible for advising managers and colleagues on all matters related to health and safety in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and associated legislation. In this role, you will proactively lead on the communication and awareness of health and safety policies, procedures and practices, ensuring they are followed across the organisation. You will co-ordinate and update health and safety records, carry out regular inspections and audits, and ensure corrective actions are taken in response to identified risks. You will work closely with managers to ensure risk assessments, safe systems of work, CDM and COSHH processes are in place, as well as manage key health and safety training, first aid provisions, and the distribution of PPE. You will also investigate and report on accidents and RIDDORs, working closely with the Human Resources and Facilities teams to ensure a safe working environment.

About you

The ideal candidate for this this role will be committed to working towards a relevant Health and Safety qualification, such as IOSH or NEBOSH, and bring practical experience from a similar health and safety role. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety legislation and best practices, with experience in carrying out audits and making appropriate and actionable recommendations. We are looking for someone who can create and review fit for purpose policies and procedures, ensuring compliance across the organisation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, with a customer-focused approach and the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
