The redevelopment of Almonry Close, Pershore, is making significant progress, with the development expected to be completed in late 2026.

The Evesham-based housing association, working in partnership with Homes England and Wychavon District Council, is redeveloping the site of its outdated former sheltered housing scheme into 54 modern, energy-efficient retirement flats for rent and shared ownership, providing much-needed housing for the local community.

On 28 February, Dame Harriett Baldwin, MP for West Worcestershire, visited the site alongside Rooftop Housing Group Chief Executive Boris Worrall to review the progress.

Dame Harriett Baldwin commented: “The new housing being built by Rooftop Housing in the heart of Pershore will be a welcome increase in the number of homes in this wonderful town and it is yet another project being delivered by an excellent social housing provider.

“It is also heartening to see a leading local builder Speller Metcalfe carrying out the work and I look forward to seeing the project finished soon and welcoming new residents to the town.”

Boris Worrall added: "It's encouraging to see the work in progress. This redevelopment is another testament to Rooftop's provision of good quality and affordable housing where people can remain in their community.

“The redevelopment will include a lounge and activities room for residents to use, supporting a connected community for retirement-age customers. I'm confident it will create a sustainable and vibrant community in Pershore."

The redevelopment, being constructed by Worcestershire-based building contractor Speller Metcalfe, prioritises the use of local talent and resources, ensuring that the project supports the regional economy and benefits the community.

Almonry Close will feature 54 one- and two-bedroom apartments to meet modern accessibility standards, with communal facilities and green spaces to foster a strong community.

As construction progresses, Rooftop Housing Group will continue to provide updates on key milestones for the development.
