About the role

We are seeking a strategic and dynamic Head of Finance to lead our Finance Team and play a key role in shaping the financial future of our organisation. As a vital member of the Leadership Team, you will ensure the delivery of a proactive, compliant, and high-performing finance service that supports our business objectives and drives long-term financial sustainability.

In this pivotal role, you will lead the development and execution of robust financial strategies, overseeing all aspects of business planning, financial control, reporting, treasury management, and regulatory compliance. You’ll provide expert financial insight and analysis to inform major projects, new business initiatives, and investment decisions, while ensuring alignment with our organisational goals and maintaining our G1 status.

Your remit will include the effective management of financial risk, development of the Value for Money strategy, and oversight of complex financial operations such as statutory accounting, payroll, procurement, taxation, and intercompany arrangements. You’ll also take the lead on treasury activities and long-term business planning, ensuring our organisation remains financially viable and resilient.

This is a senior leadership position that demands a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience, excellent team management skills, and the ability to communicate financial matters clearly and persuasively at Board level. You’ll be committed to continuous improvement, uphold the highest standards of integrity, and embody our core values as you support our mission to provide great homes and services.

About you

The ideal candidate for this position will be a qualified accountant with significant post-qualification experience, bringing a deep understanding of financial strategy, treasury management, and financial control frameworks. With a strong track record of leading high-performing finance teams, including other qualified professionals, you thrive in complex and regulated environments where integrity, professionalism, and strategic thinking are essential.

You combine technical financial expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills. You’re adept at producing and interpreting financial reports, managing long-term business planning processes, and providing insightful analysis to support strategic decisions. Your ability to manage risk, maintain compliance, and deliver value for money sets you apart as a finance leader.

You are proactive, solutions-focused, and commercially aware, with experience managing multi-million-pound budgets, capital investment programmes, and regulatory reporting requirements. You are confident in presenting at Board and committee level, and comfortable navigating the governance requirements of a regulated organisation.

Your leadership style promotes collaboration, accountability, and development. You understand the importance of effective line management, performance oversight, and employee wellbeing. You lead by example and are driven to continuously improve processes, systems, and outcomes.

Ideally, you have experience in the housing sector or a similar not-for-profit or regulated environment, but most importantly, you bring a passion for delivering great service and making a positive impact. You are aligned with our values – working together, making things better, and doing the right thing.
