Safeguarding

If you're worried about someone

What is safeguarding?

Safeguarding means protecting children and adults from abuse, neglect, exploitation, or harm. You do not need proof that abuse is happening. If something doesn't feel right, it is always better to report your concerns.

Abuse can include:‍

  • Self-neglect (adults)
  • Discriminatory abuse
  • Online abuse or grooming
  • Neglect or acts of omission
  • Physical abuse
  • Domestic abuse
  • Sexual abuse
  • Modern slavery
  • Financial abuse or exploitation
  • Emotional or psychological abuse

If someone is in immediate danger

Call 999 immediately or use the emergency SMS service if you are deaf, hard of
hearing or speech impaired.

If it is not an emergency, call 101.
