West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) has launched an awareness campaign, ‘Fast. Fierce. Fatal.’, highlighting the dangers of fires caused by lithium-ion batteries, which are used in many everyday items, such as e-bikes, e-scooters, phones, laptops and vapes.

These fires can start quickly, burn fiercely and can be fatal if not handled safely.

Only use approved e-bikes, e-scooters and chargers

As Christmas approaches, it’s more important than ever to be careful when buying, charging and storing items with lithium-ion batteries. Always buy from reputable sellers, use the correct charger, avoid leaving items charging overnight, and keep them on hard, flat surfaces away from anything that could burn.

Please take these simple safety steps to help protect your home and our communities.
