In a display of support and inclusivity, Rooftop Housing Group has embraced Pride Month by organising a week of activities to show our support for the LGBTQIA+ community, with an aim to raise awareness about LGBTQIA+ issues and foster an even more inclusive workplace and communities.
During the week, colleagues dressed up in all colours of the rainbow, decorated their desks with Pride-themed decorations and even face painting during lunch.
We also displayed the Pride flag at our Evesham office sending a powerful message of inclusivity to both colleagues and visitors.
The highlight of the week was a bake sale. The event not only bought fun and a sense of community to the workplace but also served as a fundraiser. All monies raised will be donated to Worcestershire Pride, which is a non-profit community group which holds various events to help support the LGBT+ community.
We also encouraged colleagues to have conservation about LGBTQIA+ issues and promoting a culture of respect.
In 2022, we set up the Inclusion Alliance to oversee our work in this area and assess how our aim and commitments are being delivered in practice and progress made. Our strategy will ensure that we promote a culture where equality, diversity and inclusion are valued and respected and sets out how we will actively do this including challenging discrimination and harassment
The celebration of diversity reaffirms our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community.
