At Rooftop, we are committed to meeting the housing needs of communities in Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and to support those who need it most.
In the communities we serve, there is significant pressure on local housing, including homelessness and families living in temporary accommodation.
To help address this issue, we’re proposing a temporary pause on non-emergency internal transfers for a period of three months.
An internal transfer is the process of a Rooftop tenant moving to another property that Rooftop owns.
During this temporary pause, we propose to prioritise moves where there is an urgent or identified housing need. Other transfer requests may need to wait until the pause ends if a customer is already adequately housed.
The pause does not apply to:
- Approved management moves
- Mutual exchanges with other Rooftop customers
- Moves needed because of major works
- Moves to or from Retirement Living or Housing with Care
- Customers leaving temporary accommodation or a domestic abuse safe house
- Customers whose housing need has been confirmed by the local authority for medical, welfare, overcrowding or downsizing reasons.
This proposal is a temporary measure to support those in the greatest housing need.
We understand that moving home is important to our customers, so if you have received an email asking for your views on this, please complete it today.
