About the role

We are looking for a diligent and proactive Data Protection Officer who will work with our existing Data Protection Officer to be responsible for monitoring internal compliance and data practices to ensure the organisation meets all requirements under GDPR and UK Data Protection legislation.

You will act as a contact for supervisory authorities and individuals whose data is processed by Rooftop. Your role will involve implementing security measures, managing a privacy governance framework, and conducting data protection impact assessments. You will also review supplier contracts and consents to ensure compliance in all projects and initiatives.

As a key member of the Data Stewards Group, you will lead ongoing reviews of our privacy governance framework and make recommendations to the Data Governance Steering Committee, Executive Directors, and the Board. You will also be responsible for developing and delivering privacy training across various business functions to raise awareness and ensure engagement with data privacy standards.

About you

This role would suit a professional with strong experience in compliance, legal, or audit functions, specifically within privacy compliance. You will have a deep knowledge of UK and EU data privacy regulations and a solid understanding of major privacy frameworks.

You will be a confident communicator, able to interact effectively with people at all levels and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You should be comfortable working unsupervised, exercising leadership, and influencing change across the organisation.

A detail-oriented approach is essential, as you will be recommending and implementing strategic improvements to our data protection processes. Experience in a regulated industry and a professional Data Protection certification (such as CIPP/E, CIPM, or ISEB) would be highly beneficial.
